Fitness & Pool
Enjoy a workout in our newly redesigned free-weight room and workout area, then wind down in the sauna or tanning bed. We keep our salt-water pool at a comfortable 90˚F, ideal for training and therapy use alike. Need to soothe sore muscles? Our hot tub does the trick!
SMART Women's Health
Beyond the basics, our women’s health and wellness provider addresses patient concerns with emotional health, hormone replacement, infertility, menopause/perimenopause, and mind-body health.
Meet our founder, Dr. Skip Ross!
Opening SMART Sports in 1992 fulfilled a childhood dream for Vincent “Skip” Ross, M.D.—and more than 25 years later, he still hasn’t lost his passion for his work.
In addition to seeing clients at SMART Sports, Dr. Ross serves as the primary physician for Cheyenne Frontier Days and provides sports medicine coverage for Cheyenne’s East and South high schools, Laramie County Community College, Cheyenne Stampede Hockey, and Colorado Eagles Hockey.
Meet Dr. Kristy Van Kirk!
After practicing obstetrics and gynecology in Cheyenne for six years, Dr. Kristy Van Kirk looks forward to transitioning into non-surgical, non-obstetrical women’s health and integrative medicine here at SMART Sports! Dr. Van Kirk received her undergrad in Molecular Biology from the University of Wyoming, graduated medical school from the University of Washington School of Medicine (WWAMI program), and completed her residency at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics as chief resident.
What makes SMART Sports different?
“So many opportunities to be healthy under one roof! The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, and eager to make your experience pleasurable. For those who may be a bit uncomfortable going to a gym for the first time, you don’t need to worry. You will be welcomed and become a part of the family.”
— Judy Weickum
“I’ve been a member of SMART Sports from the day it opened! It’s a friendly environment with state-of-the-art equipment, and the staff strives on making members comfortable. Classes are tailored to every fitness level and are taught by certified, friendly instructors. If your goal is to get fit and have fun doing it, I recommend SMART Sports for you!”
— Buck McVeigh
“I’ve had two surgeries that saw me in the SMART Sports Physical Therapy office, rather than the gym, for extended periods of time. Dr. Ross and the physical therapists knew my frustration and did everything they could to get me back to it. Being hurt isn’t ideal, but these guys care about your healing process, and it is apparent their main goal is to make their patients feel whole again.”
